Under the supervision of the Chief, Strategic Management and the overall guidance of the Assistant Country Director, Crisis Prevention and Recovery, the Consultant supports the implementation of the communication plan for relief and early recover initiatives for flood affectees to increase the awareness of UNDP Early Recovery projects with partners, the media, donors and the public.
The Consultant will work in close collaboration with the Communications and Crisis Prevention and Recovery Unit in Country Office.
Summary of key deliverables:
Communication Planning: Assist his/her supervisor in the implementation of the communication strategy for UNDP early recovery projects.
UNDP Flood Website: Update UNDP website on floods on daily basis. Also make it one stop shop for all information related to UNDP’s work on flood and early recovery.
Publication and Human Interest Stories: Responsible for producing a compilation of human interest stories from the projects.
Coordination of Projects’ Communication Staff: Assist in providing guidance to and organizing regular contact with projects’ communication specialists. Assist in developing the communications components for UNDP ER projects and provide assistance to projects in organizing media events.
Public Affairs: Organizing and coordinating press conferences, press launches, field visits, interviews, TV appearance and media briefings. Arrange visit of UNDP Advocate to the field and press briefings on early recovery projects. Establish and maintain contacts with print and electronic media nationally and internationally, particularly with those covering UNDP activities
Media Monitoring: Daily review and record media coverage of UNDP ER and circulate to relevant authorities.
Knowledge Management: Catalogue and archive all audio and visual materials of UNDP and its projects on early recovery.
