Climate Change resulting from an increasing concentration of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere due to the use of fossil fuels and other human activities has become a major worldwide concern. It is particularly so for Pakistan because climate change is posing a direct threat to its water security, food security and energy security. The country’s vulnerability to such adverse impacts is likely to increase considerably in the coming decade as the average global temperature, which increased by 0.6 oC over the past century, is projected to increase further by 1.1 to 6.4 oC by the end of current century.
The federal Ministry of Environment is the key national institution engaged in formulation of national climate change policy and action plan. A Climate Change Wing is established within the Ministry of Environment to respond to obligations under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and engage with key government and non-governmental institutions to deal with the challenges of climate change at the national level.

Job Description:
• To facilitate Climate Change Focal Point – Pakistan in carrying out bilateral and multi-lateral consultations for identification of national priorities, planning of new climate change portfolio, program analysis for improvement on need basis.
• Coordination with federal and provincial governments on climate change related issues. 
• To implement improved coordination mechanism with the involvement of national counterparts of UNFCCC, UNCCD, UNCBD, Adaptation Fund and Stockholm Convention, federal and provincial governments and international organizations, on need basis.
• To provide information and facilitate process in projects concepts and preparation of project documents, obtaining required approvals & endorsements, review and coordination with various funding windows.
• Explore possibilities of engaging maximum stakeholders for climate change sensitization.
• Providing facilitation to climate change focal point in the Ministry of Environment in day-to-day work related to climate change. 
• Exploring the opportunities for holding national climate change related events on need basis and as per requirement the Ministry of Environment.
• To assist the climate change Focal Point in the execution of climate change related operations / projects in Pakistan. 
In addition to deliver presentations and provide climate change related information to climate change Focal Points and competent authorities; preparation of briefs, presentations and working papers in relation to climate change.
