He/ She must have adequate knowledge, skills and understanding of GIS based assignments and should have minimum of 4-5 years practical experience of GIS applications. Candidate must have a high level of professional excellence with intimate familiarity and working experience of national/ donor organisations.

He/ She should be able to communicate, write and read in English and perform as an effective team member, possessing management skills, problem-solving skills and result oriented skills.

Preference will be given to those candidates having high quality professional excellence and capable to perform as an effective team member, possessing skills in facilitation, presentation and writing of reports and understanding of DTCE and NRB operations and procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of this assignment is to provide operational and technical support to Director IME that would ensure the timely assistance to DTCE Directorates on designing and implementation and monitoring of DTCE Operations. The GIS Specialist would be responsible for the following tasks:

Work with project staff to identify the information needs that should be part of the project scope

Review existing reports and documents on the project to make themselves conversant with past and current activities, objectives and other related information.

Report what supporting data is available and its current state

Verify the coherence of data coding schemes and validation processes and verify the coherence of the designing of structure of the overall database

Assist in the development of standardize procedures for data capture analysis and retrieval of thematic and geo-referenced data

Assist in the operational running of the computer equipment, including system management, data capture and analysis 

Produce general maps and statistics output from the database

Undertake and supervise the data digitisation and its processing

Capable of conducting field surveys for ground verification of data whenever required

Together with Director IME and database specialist, undertake a detail analysis

Identify all datasets that are missing but required

GIS services, digital mapping, project support, system set-up, distribution of technical files

Database services largely focused on government supporting standards, shareable system and compatible info fields. Developing specialized system for line operations

Identify, gather and incorporate external database into the CEIMS data repository

Work with data to create themes and layers for use in GIS

Conduct analysis and relate separate datasets to create analytical products

Create thematic diagrams for the website of the DTCE
