Context
 
On 8 October, 2005, Pakistan was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale. This earthquake has devastated, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and northern parts of the NWFP. The earthquake has affected more than 5 million people with more than 2.5 million in need of immediate relief support. The Federal and Provincial Governments, Donors, NGOs and UN System rushed relief assistance to the affected areas and relief efforts are still continuing.
To cope with this enormous task of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the disaster affected areas, the Government of Pakistan has established the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA). In response to the request from the Government of Pakistan, UNDP is supporting ERRA in carrying out its mandate through programmatic and institutional capacity building and strengthen ERRA’s capacity in programme planning and implementation, through “Technical Assistance for Management of Earthquake Early Recovery” (TAMEER).
Terms of Reference
 
  • Facilitate the supervisor in his/her overall supervision and monitoring function.
  • Provide support in recruitment of project staff, draft Terms of Reference.
  • Draft correspondence, compile and organize documents. Receive and review requests from project field offices regarding procurements and travel.
  • Manage inventory for both expendable and non-expendable project items.
  • Maintain financial/accounts records.
  • Check vehicle log books to ensure proper maintenance on a day to day basis.
  • Maintain POL and repair/maintenance register for each project vehicle.
  • Assist the supervisor in all necessary documentation for submission to different stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining effective communications with all team members.
  • Assist the Supervisor in day-to-day administrative/financial management of the Project and maintain records.
  • Provide all logistical support for meetings, seminars, workshops and missions.
Profile
The candidate should have
  • Bachelors Degree in related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in project work preferably in coordination, administration and finance; experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc).
  • Knowledge of UN system will be an added advantage.
  • Qualified female candidates are encouraged to apply.
