One UN Disaster Risk Management (NCBDRM) is a 2-year joint initiative of UN and Government of Pakistan. The initiative seeks to build capacities of the national, provincial and district departments and other stakeholders for effective disaster preparedness, timely and coordinated response and mitigation of disaster risks in Pakistan. A critical activity under the One UN DRM Programme is research & training on disaster risk management for the newly established national, provincial and district disaster management authorities. At the same time, the HRD component is also set to impart DRM training to hazard-prone communities, local non-governmental organizations and other private-sector stakeholders. The Training Officer is required to assist in timely completion of planned activities with regard to training and research at the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in Islamabad.
Terms of Reference:
Under the supervision of the DRM Training Coordinator, the Training Officer shall perform the following tasks:
o Develop / translate / compile / review training manuals / materials on various aspects of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) both in English and Urdu languages;
o Manage the conduct of training courses / workshops / seminars at the national, provincial and district level;
o Conduct training sessions on DRM in various courses intended for hazard-prone communities, district & provincial authorities and other stakeholders;
o Coordinate research studies on disaster-related topics;
o Review / edit disaster-related materials / manuals produced by consultants;
o Prepare training progress reports as per requirement;
o Assist in managing training & research activities at the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM).
