Description:
 

Background and objective
 
The objective of the task is to assist Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Environment to carrying out an assessment with regards to applicable 2010 Biodiversity Targets at national level. Considering that the central theme of the fourth national report of the Convention on Biological Diversity is analysis of progress towards the 2010 Biodiversity Targets, the report format will be used for presenting this progress to res
Structure of the report and Processes:
 
Report preparation will be in accordance with COP decision VIII/14 and the CBD Secretariat notification 2006-083 Ref No.ITS/NR/LC/MC/55455 undertaking preparation of the reports using the guidelines and format provided at: http://www.biodiv.org/reports/guidelines.aspx
 
The fourth national report to the CBD will be a key outcome of national activities, but other country-specific products may also be envisaged.
National Report Coordinating Team will oversee the preparation of the report while Director Biodiversity will be the focal point for the task.
A review of existing information relevant to reporting on the implementation of the CBD at national level, with particular focus on the 2010 indicators will remain a substantial task of the whole activity. This should furthermore include not only biodiversity information but also activities in other sectors of the national economy that may have positive, negative or synergistic impacts on biodiversity.

ToRs for 4th NR
Overall responsibility of the consultant is to:
  • Identification and preparation of the list of stakeholders and identifying the potential sectoral contributors for the Report
  • Prepare suitable instrument, protocol for acquisition of information on compliance with National and International Obligations under BAP and CBD respectively.
  • Prepare the outline of group work at regional consultations as well as national consultation on reporting process.
  • Organizing the national consultations on Fourth National Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in accordance with the guidelines available at the website of CBD.
  • Reporting on proceeding of the workshop, recording the outcomes, suggestions and recommendations of the workshops.
  • Prepare the synthesis of the findings of the workshop/s.
  • Finalization of the report ready for submission to the Secretariat of CBD.
  • Preparation of popular version of the report for wide dissemination across the country.
