Experience:

At least 7 years of experience in natural resource management.
Understanding of Integrated Watershed Management and community mobilization is essential.
Project management experience of forestry and green sector with integration of environmental impact assessment for disaster risk reduction and livelihoods security through natural resource management.
Experience of Slope Stabilization in general and bio-engineering will be an advantage. Expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing for Natural Resource/ environmental management is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, team oriented work style.
Excellent communication & report writing skills in English Proficient at use of computer/IT
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision.
Understanding of capacity building of communities and line agencies in Integrated Watershed Management.
Expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation is an advantage.

Description:
 

To contribute to the environmental rehabilitation in the wake of 2005 earthquake, Environmental Recovery Programme of Earthquake Affected Areas of Pakistan is managing Integrated Watershed Management and Slope Stabilization initiatives in Muzaffarabad and Balakot areas. The project is already in the implementation process and the team is in place where the incumbent shall compliment the activities of the team with the following specific terms of references:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The NRM/ LS Officer will work under the direct overall supervision of National Programme Coordinator, Environmental Recovery Programme, and will assist the NRM/LS Specialist in the execution of the project activities. His/her responsibilities will include the following:
i. Play an important role in realization of project outputs and outcomes through timely implementation of activities in a well planned, organized and coordinated manner;
ii. Implementation of the component of the programme related to the landslide risk reduction, livelihoods and Natural Resources Management;
iii. Provide assistance in the implementation of the framework for community based watershed management activities with the involvement of communities and district level organizations;
iv. Assist the experts in the field activities regarding landslide & landslip vulnerability analysis and hazard mapping
v. Assist and participate in different training programmes to be held at the district level for the implementing partners and local authorities on risk mitigation, improving vegetation cover, reducing landslide damages, and creating livelihood opportunities;
vi. Provide necessary timely feedback on various implementation issues to the project management for their early resolution and ensuring smooth implementation of the project activities;
vii. Ensure close liaison and participation of all the project stakeholders including government departments, NGOs, other similar programme and projects being implemented by UNDP and other agencies in the project area for building synergies and sharing information
viii. Provide and prepare regular updates and input for preparation of different progress and monitoring reports.
