Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a UN organization.
Excellent written and spoken English.

Description:
 

Background:

Ministry of Environment is implementing the first phase of a UNDP-GEF & GoP funded project on “Sustainable Land Management to combat Desertification in Pakistan”. The overall goal of the project is to combat land degradation and desertification in Pakistan in order to protect and restore ecosystems and essential ecosystem services that are key to reducing poverty. The main objectives are to strengthen institutional capacity, create an enabling environment, and demonstrate good practices – all in an effort to help remove key barriers to Sustainable Land Management (SLM).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the over-all guidance of the National Project Coordinator (NPC) and direct supervision of the Admin and Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant will perform the following accounting and administrative tasks for the National Coordination Unit (NCU):- 
Providing inputs for preparation of cost recovery bills in ATLAS for the service & follow up on cost recovery.
Providing accounting and administrative support to the Project and entering Disbursement Vouchers in ProMis Software
Manage bank records & petty cash account of NCU, including preparation of DVs, AVs and RVs in ProMis and maintain up to date computerized ledger and monthly bank reconciliations.
Prepare Vouchers, expenditure reports and correspondence with respect to utilization of PSDP funds.
Maintaining and updating the project account, petty cash accounts and PSDP share in accordance with UNDP PCOM and government Procedures respectively.
Preparing quarterly advance requests and monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
Assistance in staff recruitment process.
Assist Project in establishing offices at respective Provincial Coordination Units (PCUs).
Prepare correspondence on all PSDP and donor components.
Assist project management in the procurement of project equipment, including vehicles and office equipment.
Assist project team generating work plans, progress reports and advance requests in ProMis/ATLAS.
Provide support services to all other staff members in administrative and financial matters.
Prepare and maintain personal files of staff hired for the NCU and PCUs.
Assist in handling logistical and administrative matters of the project, including workshops and seminars.
Provide assistance for the project budget revisions, and
Any other project related task assigned by the Admin & Finance Officer/NPC.
