At least 5-7 year professional experience in the area of Managing Civic Education through NGO’s and working with teachers, youth and students. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of Cultural sensitivities of different regions of Pakistan and dealing/coordinating with civil societies to carry out different activities. He/She should have field experience in same or related areas, good knowledge of Human Rights, Gender issues, political education and knowledge of effective communication models in remote areas.

He/she should have excellent communication, proposal writing skills and should be fluent in English and Urdu and conversant with the use of computers.

Description:
 

Background:
After successful completion of the Project “Support to National Elections in Pakistan”, The Election Commission of Pakistan and several donors expressed a strong interest in continued support to electoral assistance and reforms. The project is being implemented in close collaboration with ECP and will promote strategic partnership between ECP & CSOs for strengthening electoral processes in Pakistan. The intended outcome of the project is legal and institutional frameworks that enable free, fair, transparent and credible elections at all levels in place.

Job Description:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Project Manager to carry out the following specific tasks to achieve all the project objectives:

Strategy formulation for institutionalization of voter education program within ECP;

Coordinating with ECP and Ministry of Education to review the improvement in Curriculum Development and inclusion of concepts, rights and obligations related to democracy and democratic culture;

Prepare draft curriculum development/improvement plan and coordination for its approval from Election Commission;

Planning and executing future leader camps with male and female students covering all the district of Pakistan to nurture future democratic leaders at the grass root level;

Planning and executing “Democracy Seminars” for grade 9-12 students in their respective schools in all districts of Pakistan;

Plan advocacy session for women in Tribal belts (FATA and FANA) and in Balochistan through CSOs;

Identifying areas within this component that require further research and analysis for drawing lessons for replication and sustainability of the systems that have been put in place;

Ensuring the gradual transfer of the responsibilities to ECP, such that the project staff is undertaking to ensure the sustainability of project activities;

Any other tasks assigned by the PM.
