Background:

Recognizing the need for a comprehensive system for developing, managing and utilizing environmental information for informed decision making, the Ministry of Environment has included “Establishment of Environmental Information Management System” as a key component of National Environmental Action Plan Support Programme (NEAP-SP) which is being implemented with the assistance of UNDP and donor agencies to support realization of the National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP). The project has been designed to address issues relating to availability of timely and accurate environmental information in Pakistan. The NEIMS when implemented will facilitate informed decision making Environmental Management Information System for different areas of environment. EMIS will be a very powerful resource in planning different development projects of Pakistan and will provide help to different departments including Forests, Agriculture, Communication, Climate, Town Planning, and Industries etc.
Web based EIMS application will develop to provide useful information for planners and researchers in the Environmental & other related field.
Scope of work:
Administers database management systems for an information systems installation. Oversees the development of data standards, security procedures, and systems performance measures.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls the activities related to database systems in environmental information management system.
  • Installs and tests database management systems and related systems.
  • Manages the physical descriptions of database components.
  • Develops and documents security procedures and data standards.
  • Establishes contacts with vendors for software support and problem resolution.
  • Monitors the performance of database systems. Resolves performance problems and recovers from system outages.
  • Meets with nodal agencies and technical staff to determine information needs and database requirements.
  • Provides resource estimates and progress reports to Coordinator EIS or National Program Manager.
  • Ensures that all work is timely, accurate, and in compliance with departmental or project standards.
