Tracking all the UN vehicle ( and staff) movement.
Maintain 24 hours radio and telephone communications, with all I/A COMCENs, Security Officers
Ensure that all communications equipment (i.e VHF and HF radios, fax, mobile and land line phone) are in perfect working conditions before the start of the duty.
Receive, process , record and pass all mission related information to the appropriate quarters through the normal communication channels.
Inform the Supervisor and the Duty Security Officer immediately of any incident / accident received via communications network.
Provide necessary assistance to staff members of other organizations needing assistance through radio or telephone channels.
Brief incoming duty radio operator on all events.
Perform radio checks according to the Country MOSS
Monitoring voice and data traffic in all UN radio network ( I/A – Common UN Security network), correcting wrong use of procedures and , as soon as possible reporting any irregularities relating to misuse or faults to the supervisor.
Updating call sign lists and other contact information for the UN operations ( and NGOs) in AOR.
Making sure that all ICT equipment in use of the radio room is well maintained and in working order.
Provide full support to the TCO in the implementation process of the One UN pilot initiative in Pakistan.
Install, maintain, upgrade and support the radio communication systems including HF/VHF/UHV systems.
Provide regular user support to UN Agencies and NGOs in terms of radio programming etc.
Maintain a central database of call signs and sel-calls for all UN agencies operating in Pakistan.
Assign sel-calls and call signs to personals and vehicles of UN agencies in Pakistan.
Perform regular maintenance work as and when required in the UN interagency radio rooms.
Liaise with UN interagency radio rooms and make sure that contact information such as call signs, sel-calls and telephone numbers are updated regularly.
Assess status of the IA radio room and perform upgrades to enhance MOSS compliance.
Setup and implement procedures in the IA radio rooms for normal operations and security tracking.
Provide training in the use of VHF and HF radio equipments to IA radio operators as well as UN staff in general.
Provide computer training to allow radio operators to log incidents, produce documents, initiate correspondence and formulate shift rosters.
Instruct staff on map marking and general awareness.
