The Gender Support Programme is a UNDP and donor-funded programme. It aims at strengthening national capacity to address gender issues and gender disparities in Pakistani society, based on themes such as Social, Political, and Economic empowerment of women and institutional capacity building. The goal of the Gender Support Programme is to eradicate poverty in Pakistan through gender-responsive governance and a rights-based approach to sustainable human development. The Gender Support Program assists in policy analysis, coordination, implementation and monitoring, capacity development, research and documentation and awareness-raising. The formulation of policy concept notes and designing training modules for respective line ministries will be considered as key activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Officer will undertake the following duties:

More specifically the responsibilities include:

• Assist ARR/ Chief Gender Unit and GSP Coordinator in connection with project implementation in a manner to achieve the set targets.
• Provides technical support to ARR/ Chief Gender Unit, GSP Coordinator and Project Counterparts in preparation/processing of project documents.
• Undertakes project-monitoring visits to discuss matters of common interests.
• Assists the Supervisor in the identification and development of new project proposals; Participates actively in the project formulation processing by devising components of the project documents and ensuring consultations with stakeholders.
• Coordinates with Gender focal points and develops linkages with other relevant programmes, organizations and agencies to create awareness, ensure acceptance and secure support to UNDP Gender Programme initiatives in Pakistan.
• Collaborates in Planning, designing and holding meetings on gender related issues in collaboration with counterpart agencies and stakeholders.
• Timely management of assigned projects with coordination of relevant Programme Officers to ensure compliance of PCOM guidelines by the project management to pre-empt audit observations and ensure judicious use of project
• Provides regular assistance to Unit colleagues in preparation of cost-sharing agreements, TTF agreements and new project formulations in order to achieve the target of resource mobilization
• Drafts routine letters, preparation of power point presentations, providing inputs to Unit Work plan and responding e-mail communications of different natures on daily basis.
• Provide training and orientation to new staff members/project staff and also shares experiences with other colleagues.
• Facilitate local and international missions including logistical arrangements, arranging appointments and meetings.
• Perform any other duties as required.
The Research Officer will report to the Programme Coordinator.
