Applications are invited to recruit a UN- Coordination Specialist for IASU, UN system Islamabad. The incumbent will provide core professional assistance and support to the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN-Country Team in managing the process of collaboration and cooperation between the UN agencies. More specifically the tasks include: Advise and guide the process of coordination through generating consensus and ensuring a common UN understanding of country issues and their relevance to the national agenda· Support and reinforce linkages between agency programmes through development and monitoring of a high quality, focused and strategic United Nations Development Assistance Framework results matrix that guides UN response to national strategies and priorities· Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Annual Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team work plan. Support the Operations Management team on issues relating to UN Operational Services · Ensure effective advocacy of UN activities in close consultation with UNIC. Participate in UN –interagency forums, provide substantive support as necessary to UN working groups. Liaise with UN agencies, coordinate visiting UN missions, facilitation of meetings and preparation of background material. Assist in preparation, implementation and monitoring of collaborative programmes (as they evolve) that includes integrated planning, rationalization of funding and use of technical expertise between agencies to reduce costs. Support the finalization of the Millennium Development Goals and Global conferences. Assist UN-Country Team to work with national government to prepare periodic reports on progress towards MDGs. Support the national strategy setting and prioritization processes when requested by national governments Masters degree in Social Sciences; Minimum of 10 years experience in development related field.Experience of administrative and financial management and UN development activities would be an added advantage. Personal Characteristics: The incumbent should be a team player with a collegial personality. S(he) should be client oriented with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to satisfy and interact with various constituencies. The candidate must be capable of working under pressure with the ability to complete tasks within strict deadlines and minimum supervision. The candidate must possess good coordination and management skills.
