At least 5 years experience of working in a managerial and supervision position.
Experience and familiarity with gender issues.
Knowledge of finance and experience in developing project budgets and financial reports.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.
Knowledge of UN system is preferred.



The goal of the Gender mainstreaming project is to build the capacity of government officials to mainstream gender in the formulation, implementation and monitoring & evaluation of government policies, plans, programs and projects in all areas of development. The project objectives dovetail with Government of Pakistan’s Gender Reform Action Plan (GRAP) of Ministry of Women Development. The project attempts to achieve six clear-cut objectives common between the two; sensitization, training, gender disaggregated databases, knowledge based networking, and advocacy for institutionalization of gender mainstreaming responsibility and accountability.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The National Project Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project.  His main responsibilities include:

Coordinate between Planning & Development Departments & Divisions (P&D), Donors and other project partners/stakeholders for successful planning and implementation of the project under the guidance of the National Project Director (NPD)

Coordination of activities between and among the Provincial PMU’S to ensure smooth and timely delivery of the project activities.

Assist the NPD and the provincial offices to hire resource persons and technical experts (as and when needed) to carry out the project work plan activities.

Manage the mobilization and provision on inputs of the project and production of outputs, according to the project document and the procedures provided in the PCOM.

Report P & D on project activities leading to the overall goal and outcome of the project keeping in context the latest developments in the country

Prepare and revise project work plans and budgets in consultation with provincial units for submission to UNDP in accordance with given timelines

Oversee all the financial and administrative aspects of the project, on a day-to-day basis, as specified in the Project Cycle Operations Manual (PCOM).

Prepare, consolidate inputs from the Provincial offices and submit the Quarterly Progress Reports, Annual Project Reports and other required reporting material according to UNDP format within a given time frame.

Provide administrative and logistical support to meetings, which may be held during the life of the project.

In close coordination with P & D and UNDP, explore the potential for resource mobilization

Carry out monitoring of the Project to ensure that it is achieving the required targets.

Report to the NPD on a regular basis.

Identification & resolution of implementation problems, with assistance of the NPD if necessary.

The National Project Manager will work with and report to National Project Director (NPD).
