Experience:

Minimum of three years professional experience in psychological counseling with special emphasis on critical incident stress;
Well-developed communication, leadership and team-building skills;
Fluency in written and spoken English and in Pakistan local language(s);
Professional experience with the United Nations is desirable.

Description:
 

The main role of the Associate Stress Counselor will be to assist the Stress Counselor in building a sustainable stress management system in UN Offices in the country with special focus on the earthquake-affected provinces of the country, and in improving critical incident stress management preparedness of the local UN security system in the case of an emergency.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Stress Counselor, the duties of the Associate Stress Counselor are: 

To provide direct stress counseling services to UN staff and their dependents;

To work extensively in the earthquake-affected provinces in order to implement preventative and mitigating stress management activities and to visit other parts of the country as per needs;

To assist with data collection and analysis;

To conduct training sessions on stress management for UN staff;

To enforce and to facilitate the activities of the Critical Incident Stress Management Cells (SMC) at the country level with special focus on the earthquake-affected sites;

To perform all other stress-related activities deemed necessary by the Stress Counselor;

To provide regular written reports on performed activities to the Stress Counselor;


Education
Must Degree Degree Level Country Description
YesMastersMasters DegreeAdvanced university degree in psycho-educational studies, psychology, psychiatry, clinical social work or other clinical mental health professions; Certification or country-specific licensure authorizing the incumbent to deliver mental health services; Additional training or experience in a broad range of related fields, such as alcohol/substance abuse, family counseling, stress management, critical incident stress and cross-cultural communication would be an asset;
